This is one of the most common steels used in knife manufacturing. D2 steel is much harder and other steel and holds a great edge. Getting the knife wet will not rust this blade steel. As with all steel, some rust will occur if submerged for long periods of time. Be sure to keep a light coat of oil on the blade to ensure a lifetime of use.
